The Anointing Requires Obedience

 The Anointing Requires Obedience

It's day 2 of our fast and we're continuing with the theme the anointing

Let's take a look at Jesus Himself, the Anointed One. Luke 4:18 reads "The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to proclaim good news to the poor." Jesus Himself was anointed to carry out the calling of God upon His life.

In Matthew chapter 3 Jesus gets baptized by John. Matthew 3:16 reads "after being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and [a]he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and [b]lighting on Him." Then Jesus was led into the wilderness, where he experienced temptation, but He resisted through the Word and the enemy fled.

Jesus, the Son of God was anointed for the plan and purpose of God.

And so are you! We are anointed with the Holy Spirit when we believe and confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior. God has a specific plan and purpose for our lives and it is fulfilled through our obedience to His will.

Jesus fulfilled the will of God through His obedience.

Difficult circumstances are opportunities for spiritual growth and maturity. Hebrews 5:8 reads "Although He was a son He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. "Jesus was by no means disobedient, but His experience as a human allowed Him to resonate with our human experience and through that cling to God for dependence and strength to achieve His will.

What can we learn from the obedience of Jesus?

Jesus's identity was established in God and it informed His behavior and commitment to the plan of God. And even in the face of difficulty Jesus resorted to fulfilling God's will above His own. Luke 22:42 reads Father, if You are willing, take this cup from me; yet not My will, but Yours be done."

Obedience is the catalyst to victory

Because Christ Jesus remained obedient to His Father's will, we now have the privilege of knowing our Heavenly Father. His obedience has changed the trajectory of our lives.

The anointing requires obedience

Please read through the scriptures below and pray them throughout your day

John 14:15

If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

Philippians 2:8

And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death of the cross.

Romans 6:16

Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?

Take some time for self analysis today. As you pray ask God to reveal areas in which you've been obedient of disobedient. There is no condemnation in Christ but we need to make sure we're aligning our behavior with the will of God. Cry out to your Heavenly Father, He knows all things, but He wants your transparency and vulnerability. Pray to walk in obedience no matter the circumstance. Amen.
