The Holy Spirit Informs The Mission
Today is day 3 of our fast. Continuing our theme, let's look at the importance of the Holy Spirit in guiding the mission.
John 14:26 reads "but the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you". Our ability to walk in the anointing of God and fulfill His plan and purpose can only happen when we are lead by His Spirit.
Our life experience is a spiritual and physical one. Often times it feels more physical because of what we're seeing. However, life is more spiritual than we may perceive. And because of that fact, we need the Holy Spirit to guide us in all truth so that we can rightly represent and be led by our Heavenly Father.
Let's take a look at Paul. Paul was commissioned to share the good news and he exemplified Matthew 16: 24-25, which reads "and calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me".
Paul shared the gospel no matter the cost. Acts 20: 21-24 reads "testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God."
Paul stated he was led by the Holy Spirit to Jerusalem, and he knew that tribulations awaited him, but none of those things moved him. This is deep! His encounter with God totally transformed the way he perceived the value of his life. He was not living for himself at all, rather his life purpose was to glorify God, which included hardship. Paul was able to endure because of the power of God that rested on him.
Paul wrote 2 Corinthians 12:10 which reads "that is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
We're not all called to the same life Paul lived. However as children of God, commissioned by Jesus, we are called to live for Christ and operate under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. We are called to surrender to the plan of God in place of our own. And we are called to steward our anointing through abiding in the Word, fellowship and spreading the Gospel.
Let us value the gift of the Holy Spirit, our Helper. We cannot complete this mission without God as our strength. Whatever God has called you to do He will equip you to accomplish by His Holy Spirit. Glory to God!
Read, meditate and pray the scriptures below:
Ephesians 4:30
"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."
Acts 1:8
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Romans 5:3-5
"Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
Hallelujah! As You're praying today ask God for endurance in your circumstances. Pray that you will pursue God no matter what you face, and that you will steward the anointing of God in your life.
