The Brain is Neuroplastic

Science has caught up to the truth in the scriptures again! As we continue our study of the renewed mind let us take a look at the neuroplasticity of the brain. Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to adapt, reframe and even alter its function by new learned experiences. And this gives us perspective 1. For how our formative years or experiences may have shaped our appetite and ultimately our nutrition consumption.  And 2. It confirms the hope we have in God's word for renewal. If the brain is always adapting and restructuring, we have to be diligent and exercise Colossians 3:2 which states "set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." 

The flesh is wild and "the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot." (Romans 8:7) If the mind before Christ was incapable of submission to God, then when we are saved the charge for mind renewal is a pivotal one. Without mind renewal we try to build on an already faulty foundation that keeps us walking in bondage. But God, who is rich in mercy "who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light,"(1 Peter 2:9) has privileged us with revelation through His Word. Hallelujah! God specifically tells us what to meditate on. 

Let us take notice of the most perfect example of a mind set on things above. Jesus Himself before going to the cross prayed “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.” (Luke 22:42) This is true obedience, which is the ultimate goal of our mind renewal. 

What a beautiful privilege to entrust our lives and the fullness of it to the one true God who sees all of us. El Roi, the God who sees. If you don't quite understand how renewal will come, I encourage you to start by allowing the Lord to search your heart. And as God reveals to you areas that need to be surrendered, don't shrink back. Remember His will be done, not our own. 

Change can come. A new way of thinking is available through Christ.

2 Corinthians 10: 4-5

"For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ."

Glory to God for restoration! May the Lord restore our souls, as we submit to His word and seek His face. Let's continue to be in prayer about our thought patterns. Bring everything to God. He knows it all yes. But He wants your vulnerability and you to trust Him for your deliverance.

May I learn to Love You Lord... It is day 3 of our fast. And to conclude I wanted to place emphasis on growing in our love and knowledge of God. If we are to be zealous for God, then we have to know Him. And continue to enjoy learning about who He is. Psalm 91:14 reads   because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. Because he hath set his love upon me,  The Hebrew word for set his love is hasaq. Hasaq means to love, be attached to.  God wants us to love Him, to consider Him, and seek Him. Hidden Impact  Today is day 1 of our monthly fast! WHOO HOO! Next month's theme is IMPACT.   According to collinsdictionary. com to impact a situation, process, or person means to affect them. Impact can be positive or negative.  All our experiences leave some form of an impact. Think about where you were born, when, how?  Are you from a small family or a large family? Have you lived in the city of the suburbs? What high school did you attend? These questions if explored carefully, can lead us back to where certain thought patterns or behaviors may have originated. And in order for us to have an impact that honors God we must first explore what has impacted us, because it affects our perception or self and ultimately our identity.  Hidden impacts are birthed from experiences overtime.
