We Are Stewards

Today is day 1 of our monthly fast and next month's theme is renewed mind. Each of us is responsible for our own spiritual maturity in the Lord. Which means the renewal of the mind is something we must be diligent in doing ourselves. Praise God for the pastoral staff and leadership team, but when we receive the word the Lord has imparted to them that is just tidbits of their own personal devotional time with the Lord. God has something to share with all his children. And we ourselves, are responsible to seek His face for the psalmist said "When Thou saidst, “Seek ye My face,” my heart said unto Thee, “Thy face, Lord, will I seek." (Psalm 27:8)

Romans 12:2 reads "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." "Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed" is a charge for us to steward the life we have in Christ since "the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein." (Psalm 24:1) We must steward our lives by mind renewal. Our actions are first conceived in the mind. When we experience a transformation in our thinking our very behavior is corrected and we are enabled to live  worthy of the calling upon our lives. 

Everything in this life belongs to God. He has graciously allowed us to enjoy the beauty and fullness of the earth He created. Our responsibility is to manage the gift of this life in a way that is honorable. That includes our mind for Paul wrote "finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. (Philippians 4:8) Our minds have been fashioned to think a certain way based on our former way of life and it is our duty as children of God to steward our minds with all diligence that we may be able to hear God clearly, walk in discernment, and responsibly care for all the blessings He has given us. 

This is a great work. But we can accomplish it through consistency and diligence as we "look to the Lord and his strength." (Psalm 105:4) The renewal occurs not just in reading the word but in PRAYER. As we read about who God is, confess our faulty thinking and pray scripture we will see mental transformation. 

What a gift the mind is. The Lord has given us the ability to think, process information and have free will. Good stewardship recognizes that our minds belong to God, though we've been given the responsibility of cultivating healthy mindsets. And in order for our minds to operate in submission to the will of God, we must water it with His Word and allow what He says to inform what we dwell on, believe and perceive. When we align our minds with the Word of God we are able to walk in total obedience and fulfill the calling upon our lives. 


Ephesians 4:22-24

"To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness."

Jeremiah 17:10

"I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds."

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."

May we not get tired with mind renewal. Our journey with the Lord is a process and meant to be transformational. Be vulnerable with the Lord today. And after reading scripture and praying, sit silently before the Lord and allow Him to speak. Remember His Word is confirmation and He never contradicts Himself. Your Heavenly Father wants you to seek His face.

May I learn to Love You Lord... It is day 3 of our fast. And to conclude I wanted to place emphasis on growing in our love and knowledge of God. If we are to be zealous for God, then we have to know Him. And continue to enjoy learning about who He is. Psalm 91:14 reads   because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. Because he hath set his love upon me,  The Hebrew word for set his love is hasaq. Hasaq means to love, be attached to.  God wants us to love Him, to consider Him, and seek Him. He has already exemplified the most sacrificial love to us. Loving God is crucial to victory and spiritual growth. It's a matter of the heart that supersedes tasks. Hidden Impact  Today is day 1 of our monthly fast! WHOO HOO! Next month's theme is IMPACT.   According to collinsdictionary. com to impact a situation, process, or person means to affect them. Impact can be positive or negative.  All our experiences leave some form of an impact. Think about where you were born, when, how?  Are you from a small family or a large family? Have you lived in the city of the suburbs? What high school did you attend? These questions if explored carefully, can lead us back to where certain thought patterns or behaviors may have originated. And in order for us to have an impact that honors God we must first explore what has impacted us, because it affects our perception or self and ultimately our identity.  Hidden impacts are birthed from experiences overtime.
