Everyday Exchange

It is day 3! Glory to God! Today as we conclude our fast, let us reflect on the importance of allowing the great exchange to inform our everyday exchange with God.

To recap, exchange occurs when an individual gives up something and in turn becomes the recipient of something else. Have you considered that daily we are experiencing an exchange. In order for us to see Thy Kingdom come, we must be in fellowship with the Lord for direction in our everyday lives. We are giving up our will in exchange for God's will.

And you may know this very fact. And if you do, how often is that truth impacting the way you live out your days. There is a lot of noise around. Maybe you've considered how noisy life can be during this fast, since there is a level of quiet we experience when we say no to the flesh. In the past two days have you been able to identify the noise around you? Have you noticed how many things distract us from tuning into the Holy Spirit. We joke about social media and its negative affects often. Is that knowledge changing our behavior? Fasting stops our running to food for comfort. It can also highlight any other things we use to self soothe when times are hard. And this is great because the truth is Jesus is our source of strength.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”(Matthew 11:28-30)

Part of this journey called life includes a rest. It includes a slowing down, and appreciating all that God has done. Sometimes it's easier to account for the lack than the provision. May we have eyes to see how blessed we are. Our sin depth has been paid, and now we can have communion with the God of the universe, who created us for Himself and good works. If you are overwhelmed, disheartened, stressed, tired, anxious, overworked, you have an ever present help. Cry out to Jesus. Reflect on your emotions the past two days, and how you responded in the absence of your usual comfort methods. You and I have a great opportunity. We can exchange our burden for His.

May you read and pray the scriptures below

Psalm 142:1-3

"I cry aloud with my voice to the Lord; I make supplication with my voice to the Lord. I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my trouble before Him."

Philippians 4:6

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."

May we consider our daily exchange today. Let us bring our hearts before the Lord, and pray that He  cleanse us and purify us. Pray for a surrendered heart. May the Lord show us any distractions that impair our ability to hear His voice, and operate in obedience.
